  • Fine Art Giclee Prints Going to New York!

In September of 2021, I was asked to make fine art prints for a business owner in New York City. She owns a home staging business, working mostly on the Upper East Side. I was excited about venturing into this business and liked the Fine Art aspect of it. So we picked out just the right water color paper stock and proceeded to have giclee prints of several Color Pops paintings, made to order. All the while, doing careful color proofing along the way. Seeing in some cases a 12"x12" painting, now 36"x36", on the walls of elegant homes for sale, made them come to life!!

If you see something you like in my portfolio and want a giclee print for yourself, please ask!

    www.ilikeyourworkpodcast.com/2020congru…

    JUROR STATEMENT
    Congruence

To be congruent means to be in harmony, agreement, and compatibility.

The artists I selected from this recent call for I Like Your Work Podcast Summer Juried Exhibition had a high degree of personal congruence that stood out. I found that many of them had harmony in their portfolios and how they presented their work for the call to art.

Being an artist is a lifetime process. It means constant evolution and honing of one’s skillsets for the mediums and methods of artmaking. The 500+ applicants gave me the challenge to call out who was meeting that challenge now as a creative.

I got to review portfolios from around the United States and abroad, see wonderful ideas and processes in action and appreciate the incredible amount of diversity that is available in how someone decides how to make art and what their artwork is really about. I saw many refreshing ideas including weaving with street posters and working with color and color combinations that were stunning.

Many of the artists had ideas that were energizing and thought-provoking and some of them literally took me away as I wondered if they were exploring imagery from memory, imagination, or their backyard or hometown.

It was a pleasure to get to know all of you through what you shared and I congratulate the accepted works and urge those who had works that were not selected to stay the course and keep making art!

  • "Color Pops" Exhibition at The Delaware Theatre Company

Su has been invited by the Delaware Theatre Company, to have a solo exhibition of her “Color Pops” paintings in their gallery during the upcoming play, “Sanctions.”
The exhibition and play will run September 12th through 30th, 2018. The Delaware Theatre Company is located in Wilmington, DE. If you would like more information: www.delawaretheatre.org/sanctions or call 302/594-1100.
The gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday, 10:00am - 4:00pm and then on performance days through the start of each performance.

    Description of "Sanctions"

When a university athletic department returns to the big business of college football after its NCAA probation is lifted, staff conflict and a new scandal involving a freshman tutor threaten to blow up the whole program. From the playwright of "White Guy on the Bus" and "The Outgoing Tide" comes this incendiary and timely new drama inspired by true events.

"The show deals with sexual assault and racism, and is overall very heavy. To help patrons process the show, we are hosting panels and discussions about these topics following performances. I would like our gallery to be more of a safe space rather than filling it with even more heavy material. I'm really attracted to the idea of having abstract art (particularly Color Pops if available) in our gallery for this show because of its ambiguity. If patrons excuse themselves during the performance to process emotions related to the subject material, the art could lend itself to that processing.” (Lacey Eriksen, Delaware Theatre Company)

  • Delaware Artist of the Year, The American Artists Series, Winter 2014

I am pleased to announce that I have been named "Delaware Artist of the Year" by Exploring TOSCA magazine, Winter 2014.
"This is our third season presenting TOSCA”s American Artists of the Year. Our goal has been to find artists across the country who excel in their work, are passionate about their art, and create art that we believe our readers will appreciate.
We look for art that is visually beautiful, emotionally or spiritually provocative, and/or intellectually challenging. Because we always have our reader in mind we also consider the accessibility of the artists and the art. Therefore we look for art that we believe our readers would like to hang in their home or place of business, art that can be seen on a website and artists that can be easily reached.
It is thrilling to realize that our country is the home of this type of talent and that this talent belongs to such remarkable human beings. Please let the artists know you appreciate their work. A simple email will do. And of course purchasing a work of art directly from its creator is also a great way to show your appreciation as well."
Gail M. Weber, Editor in Chief

Horty, who has been painting since 2005, last exhibited at Gallery 919 Market three years ago in a recessionary climate. Still, she sold seven paintings, helping to launch her career."
